The "Facebook Special": Don't Get Scammed by Driveway Tinters
We see it every week. A customer comes in with bubbling, purple tint on a brand-new car. They are furious. They ask if we can fix it under warranty. I ask: "Did we install it?" They say: "No, I found a guy on Facebook who said he could do it for $140. Now his page is deleted and he blocked my number."
Right now, Syracuse is flooded with "fly-by-night" tinters advertising on Facebook Marketplace. They use stock photos of Lamborghinis, but when you show up for your appointment, you aren't pulling into a shop. You’re pulling into a dusty apartment complex parking lot or a parent’s driveway.
Why It Matters:
Contamination: You cannot do a clean tint job outside in the wind and pollen. It’s impossible.
No Warranty: A "Lifetime Warranty" is only as good as the business offering it. If that guy quits next month to work at Amazon, your warranty is gone.
The "Ghosting": When the film peels in 3 months (and cheap film always peels), try calling that cell phone number again. You’ll be blocked.
The Tint Squad Difference: We have been at 1130 West Genesee Street for years. We have tinted over 30,000 vehicles. We aren't going anywhere. When you pay for a tint job, you aren't just paying for the plastic; you are paying to know that if something goes wrong, the shop will still be there to fix it.
If they don't have a shop, you don't have a warranty.
